This bill modifies existing laws governing common ownership communities, which include cooperative housing corporations, condominiums, and homeowners associations, by changing the timeframe during which these communities can restrict the display of political signs. Specifically, the bill increases the minimum period before an election or vote on a proposition that these communities can prohibit or limit candidate signs (signs supporting a candidate or slate of candidates) or proposition signs (signs supporting or opposing a ballot question) from 30 days to 45 days before the start of early voting or, if there is no early voting, 45 days before the election or proposition vote itself. The bill also maintains the provision that such signs can be restricted for 7 days after the election or proposition vote.
