This bill amends the Child Care Scholarship Program, referred to as the "Program," by establishing specific exceptions to a freeze in enrollment. The Program provides financial assistance for child care. The bill clarifies that a freeze on enrollment cannot prevent certain individuals and families from participating. These exceptions include those enrolled in government assistance programs like Temporary Cash Assistance or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, children receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), siblings of children already in the Program, individuals who have recently become unemployed within the last 30 days and would have qualified for the Program, those involuntarily furloughed without pay due to a government shutdown exceeding seven consecutive days, and individuals employed by a child care provider. All individuals seeking to enroll under these exceptions must still meet the general eligibility criteria for the Program.
