This bill requires counties with volunteer fire companies to offer no-cost preventive cancer screenings to both active volunteer firefighters and retired volunteer firefighters who meet specific criteria, including having completed at least three years of volunteer service and accumulated a certain number of points under a length of service award program or an equivalent point system. A "retired volunteer firefighter" is defined as someone who previously volunteered with a company in the county, was actively involved in fire suppression, and has met the service and point requirements. Counties can fulfill this obligation by providing a no-cost annual examination that includes these preventive cancer screenings, or by applying for grants to fund innovative cancer screening technologies. Volunteer fire companies are also required to maintain and provide updated lists of their active and retired volunteer firefighters to the county.
