This discussion must cover the availability of financial assistance for prenatal and birth expenses, the differences between adoption through the child welfare system and private adoption, a brief overview of the private adoption parent approval process, the option for birth parents to designate potential adoptive parents, confidentiality options for relinquishment and adoption, and a description of the mental health outcomes for birth parents who choose adoption over abortion. The information must be presented objectively and in plain language in a private setting, with opportunities for questions and the ability for the pregnant person to decline the discussion at any point. A "healthcare facility" is defined as a licensed or certified facility, and a "healthcare provider" includes various medical professionals and staff knowledgeable about adoption processes.
