This bill, known as the "West Virginia National Guard Servicemember's Medical Readiness Act," establishes the West Virginia National Guard TRICARE Premium Reimbursement Program within the Adjutant General's department to help members of the West Virginia National Guard cover the costs of their health and dental insurance. An "eligible recipient" is defined as a member of the West Virginia National Guard who is eligible for TRICARE reserve select or TRICARE dental program coverage and meets specific reimbursement requirements set by the Adjutant General. The program can provide grants to reimburse premiums paid for individual coverage under TRICARE reserve select or the TRICARE dental program, but any portion of these premiums later covered by the federal government will no longer be reimbursed by this state program. The Adjutant General is required to create and publish policies and guidelines for the program, and funding for it will depend on legislative appropriations, with the provisions taking effect on July 1, 2026.
