This bill amends the Ticket Sale and Resale Act to prohibit ticket resellers from selling or advertising tickets they do not already own or possess, either physically or electronically, at the time of listing. It defines "reseller" as someone selling tickets, "ticket" as proof of admission, and "ticket resale marketplace" as a platform for reselling tickets. If a ticket is sold through a marketplace, the marketplace itself must ensure the reseller complies with this new rule. Violating this provision is considered an unlawful practice under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, meaning the Attorney General can use all available powers to enforce it, and this violation is also explicitly added as an unlawful practice under that Act. The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
