This bill expands the list of military medal awards that qualify for special veteran license plates in Georgia, adding several new medals such as the Navy Corps Medal, Marine Corps Medal, Airman's Medal, Coast Guard Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge, in addition to previously recognized awards like the Medal of Honor and Purple Heart. Furthermore, it introduces a new provision allowing both active and retired members of the United States Navy submarine service to obtain special and distinctive license plates for their personal vehicles, which will feature a unique design to identify their service, with a $25.00 additional manufacturing fee, and these plates will be transferable between vehicles. This legislation is set to take effect on January 1, 2027.
