This bill, by expanding the purposes for which funds from the Fair and Exposition Fund can be used, makes an appropriation and would allow the Secretary of Food and Agriculture to allocate money for capital improvements at California fairs, specifically for projects related to public health, fire and life safety, emergency services, compliance with California Code of Regulations, and general maintenance of fairgrounds, as well as projects necessitated by physical changes to fair sites or to protect fair property. Additionally, the bill stipulates that no more than 5% of the funds in the Fair and Exposition Fund can be used annually to support the Department of Food and Agriculture's efforts in developing and managing a framework for California's fairs, and mandates that all available funds must be distributed to these fairs according to an approved spending plan by December 31st of each year.
