This bill establishes the Maryland Artificial Intelligence Partnership within the University System of Maryland to serve as a central hub for various stakeholders involved in artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives, aiming to boost innovation, economic growth, workforce development, and public benefit across the state. It also creates an Artificial Intelligence Incubation Lab within the same system to help state agencies adopt AI responsibly by assisting them in developing and implementing AI solutions and managing associated risks. Additionally, the bill expands the Cyber Warrior Diversity Program to include training in AI, alongside existing cybersecurity and computer networking training, and renames the Cybersecurity Public Service Scholarship Program to the Emerging Technology Public Service Scholarship Program, broadening its scope to support students pursuing degrees or certificates in either cybersecurity or AI, with recipients required to work or teach in these fields within the state after graduation.
