This bill requires the Maryland Department of Health to notify and consult with the local health department in the county where a nursing home is located if the Department begins an investigation into a complaint alleging actual harm to a resident. This means that if a complaint is filed against a nursing home and the Department of Health decides to investigate because it believes a resident may have been harmed, they must immediately inform the local health department and, as much as possible within the investigation's required timelines, work with the local health officer on the investigation and response. The bill also makes a minor change to reporting requirements by removing "and Government Operations" from the name of a House committee that receives reports.
