This bill, titled the "Studying Disastrous Impacts of Mass Deportation Act," directs the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), a non-partisan entity that provides economic analysis to Congress, to conduct a comprehensive study on the long-term economic consequences of immigration policies implemented by the Trump administration, specifically those in effect starting January 20, 2025. This study, to be completed within 180 days of the bill's enactment or by the end of the 119th Congress, will collaborate with the Council of Economic Advisers and examine impacts over twenty to forty years. The study will analyze specific industry effects, including public sector, service workers, farm workers, and healthcare, as well as impacts on innovation and retention in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. It will also assess effects on public safety and crime stemming from widespread fear, changes in immigration flows and demographics, productivity, technological innovation, remittances (money sent back to home countries), consumer spending and investment, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contribution, small businesses, and tax revenue, considering the net fiscal impact of mass deportation at all government levels. To facilitate this study, the Department of Homeland Security, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Internal Revenue Service are required to share necessary data with the CBO upon request.
