This bill amends existing Idaho law to grant juvenile probation officers the authority to arrest a juvenile probationer without a warrant if the probation violation occurs in the officer's presence, mirroring the powers of misdemeanor probation officers. This new authority, outlined in a new subsection (3) of Section 20-516 of the Idaho Code, also allows these officers to execute court-issued warrants and orders to take probationers into custody, and to transport them between various facilities and programs as directed by the court. Additionally, the bill makes technical corrections to the existing law, such as updating numbering references, and declares an emergency, making the changes effective on July 1, 2026.
