This bill amends existing Kansas law concerning sexual exploitation of a child by adding a new provision that criminalizes knowingly engaging in a pattern of conduct or communication, whether in person, through a third party, or by electronic means such as social media or text messages, with the intent to gain access to, compliance of, or trust of a child under 18 years old, or to prepare, persuade, induce, entice, or coerce that child into engaging in sexually explicit conduct or any other unlawful sexual activity. This new provision, which is classified as a severity level 5, person felony, is added to the existing definitions of sexual exploitation of a child, and the bill also repeals the current version of the law it amends, replacing it with this updated version.
