This means that cities and counties that already require these types of contractors to pass an examination and obtain a license will now also require home inspectors to do the same, following the same standards and procedures. The bill also mandates that home inspectors must obtain liability insurance coverage, mirroring the requirements for general contractors, ensuring they have financial responsibility in case of issues arising from their inspections. Importantly, individuals who were previously registered under a prior home inspector act and whose registration was not revoked will not need to retake an examination for licensure.
