This bill amends the Nuclear Safety Law of 2004 to grant the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) the authority to enter both public and private property to collect environmental samples. This power is specifically granted in response to a disaster or incident, as defined in Section 4 of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act, that causes or poses a threat of radioactive contamination, and must be conducted in accordance with the regulations of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
