This bill authorizes the City of Mableton, Georgia, to use all the powers granted by the "Redevelopment Powers Law," which is a state law (O.C.G.A. Chapter 44 of Title 36) and a provision in the Georgia Constitution (Article IX, Section II, Paragraph VII(b)) that allows cities to undertake redevelopment projects, create special tax districts, and issue bonds to fund them. Essentially, it allows Mableton to engage in community redevelopment activities to the fullest extent permitted by these laws. Before this authorization can take effect, the citizens of Mableton must approve it in a referendum election scheduled for November 2026. If the voters reject the measure, or if the election isn't conducted properly, the bill will be automatically repealed and the city will not gain these redevelopment powers. The bill also states that if it's approved by voters, it will become effective immediately, and it repeals any existing laws that conflict with its provisions.
