This bill establishes a Workgroup on Supporting Transgender and Gender Diverse Students, comprised of representatives from the Senate, House of Delegates, the State Department of Education, various education associations, the Attorney General's office, a student member of a county board of education, parents of public school students, and members of the Executive Branch of State government. This workgroup, which will be staffed by the State Department of Education and co-chaired by one senator and one delegate, is tasked with studying ways to support transgender and gender diverse students in public schools and will make recommendations for statewide policies by December 1, 2026, reporting its findings to the State Department of Education, the Governor, and the General Assembly. The bill takes effect on July 1, 2026, and will be repealed one year later on June 30, 2027.
