This bill modifies the regulations for holders of a Class 9 limited distillery license in Maryland, which is a license for smaller-scale alcohol production often tied to a retail beer, wine, and liquor license. Previously, these licensees were restricted to producing only one brand of spirits at a time and were prohibited from manufacturing or rectifying (processing) spirits for other entities. This bill removes those restrictions, allowing Class 9 licensees to manufacture, rectify, or bottle multiple brands of alcoholic beverages. Additionally, it permits them to produce up to 31,000 gallons of product annually for other entities, a significant increase from the previous prohibition.
