This bill mandates that the Department of Aging, in collaboration with other state departments, conduct a study by December 1, 2026, to examine the potential impact of excluding income from renting a portion of an individual's primary residence when determining eligibility for state housing and medical assistance programs for aged, blind, and disabled individuals. The study will identify any barriers, such as federal laws, necessary state resources, and which specific programs could reasonably implement such a change, and the Department will then report its findings and recommendations to legislative committees. This Act will take effect on July 1, 2026, and will automatically expire on June 30, 2027, meaning its provisions will cease to be in effect after that date without further legislative action.
