This bill, titled the Puerto Rico Water Infrastructure Resilience Act, requires the Secretary of the Army, acting through the Corps of Engineers, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Puerto Rico's water and wastewater infrastructure modernization needs within 180 days of the bill's enactment. This assessment will be done in consultation with the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority and other relevant agencies. Following the assessment, the Secretary must submit a report to Congress detailing the current condition and vulnerabilities of Puerto Rico's water infrastructure, the progress and any issues with projects authorized under a specific law (section 219 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1992), the modernization needs to improve resilience against natural disasters and system failures, and recommendations for better coordination between federal and local agencies to speed up project completion.
