Bill Summary
Reinserts the provisions of the introduced bill with the following changes. Establishes further exemptions to the Marriage and Family Therapy Licensing Act. Sets forth provisions authorizing a person licensed in another jurisdiction to render marriage and family therapy services in the State. Removes changes concerning the number of members of the Marriage and Family Therapy Licensing and Disciplinary Board. Provides that a person licensed in another jurisdiction is authorized to render marriage and family therapy services in this State for up to 10 calendar days per year, consecutively or in aggregate, if the individual is licensed in good standing to practice marriage and family therapy independently in another state, province, or territory. Provides that individuals, corporations, professional limited liability companies, partnerships, and associations may employ practicum students, interns, or postdoctoral candidates seeking to fulfill the professional experience requirements needed to qualify for a license as a marriage and family therapist to assist in the rendering of marriage and family therapy services if the practicum students, interns, or postdoctoral candidates function under the direct supervision, order, control, and full professional responsibility of a licensed marriage and family therapist at the corporation, professional limited liability company, partnership, or association. Provides that nothing in the provisions shall prohibit a corporation, professional limited liability company, partnership, or association from contracting with a licensed health care professional to provide marriage and family therapy services. In provisions concerning causes of action arising under the Massage Therapy Practice Act, removes a provision creating a right of action for the Secretary of Financial and Professional Regulation, any licensed massage therapist, and any interested party against any massage business operating without being registered as a massage business. Amends the Licensed Certified Professional Midwife Practice Act. Sets forth provisions concerning the unlicensed practice of midwifery. Makes other changes. Effective immediately.
