AI Summary

This bill makes several changes to Illinois' School Code, primarily affecting school funding and teacher incentives. It establishes that certain provisions related to the recomputation and adjustment of school district claims for general State aid or evidence-based funding will conclude after Fiscal Year 2026. The bill also clarifies that when a child requiring special education services is placed in a separate public day school, that school must meet specific programmatic requirements and regulations for such facilities. Additionally, funds for the Illinois Teaching Excellence Program, which aims to improve instruction and student performance, can now be used for indirect costs necessary for the program's operation. Finally, the bill modifies the annual retention bonus for National Board certified teachers in hard-to-staff schools, increasing it to up to $4,000 per year for two consecutive years and ensuring these funds are distributed equally among all qualified educators, rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.
