This bill requires that any new tax levies, known as "mill levies" which are a unit of taxation based on property value, imposed by a school district for recreational purposes must first be approved by voters in an election held on the same date as the general election. If approved, these recreational mill levies will have an initial term of four years, and to continue them, they must be re-submitted to voters at the general election every four years thereafter until defeated. Additionally, any existing recreational mill levies in place before this bill becomes law will expire on December 31, 2028, or sooner if a new vote is held and fails, but will continue if voters approve them in the new election.
