The bill also mandates that the parent has failed to respond to repeated communication attempts from the school and that there is no record of the student being enrolled in another LEA or a request for their records from another educational entity. If these conditions are met, the LEA must refer the situation to either local law enforcement or the Division of Child and Family Services to verify the student's safety and well-being, with this provision taking effect on May 6, 2026.
