This bill amends an existing Arizona law, section 41-534 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, to officially designate an "African-American legislative day." The Arizona office of African-American affairs, in collaboration with state legislators of African descent, will now be responsible for organizing this event on the second Thursday and Friday of February each year. The purpose of this day is to invite the legislature, governor, and other elected officials to honor the history, culture, and contributions of African-Americans to the United States, and to facilitate discussions between leaders on issues impacting African-American communities. It is important to note that this legislative day is not a legal holiday.
