This resolution recognizes the Eta Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., commending its extensive history of public service and wishing the organization continued success. The Eta Omega Chapter, founded in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 1, 1919, holds the distinction of being the first chapter of any Black Greek-letter organization established in the state. Throughout its over 100 years, the chapter has been a leader in Omega Psi Phi's initiatives in Georgia and beyond, consistently upholding the fraternity's principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift through significant contributions to community service, including early efforts to promote Black literature and history, service during World War II, mobilization of the Black vote, leadership in the Open Housing movement, support for civil rights protestors, and the election of Black officials. The resolution also directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide a copy of this recognition to the Eta Omega Chapter.
