This bill expands the definition of an "eligible patient" who can receive telehealth services from an out-of-state physician and surgeon. Previously, an eligible patient was someone with a life-threatening disease or condition who either couldn't get into a clinical trial or for whom it was medically unreasonable to participate in one. Now, this bill also includes patients whose life-threatening disease or condition is in remission and who are continuing care with their established out-of-state physician and surgeon, meaning they are no longer subject to the clinical trial requirement. Telehealth, in this context, refers to the delivery of health care services using communication technologies.
