This bill requires the Independent Investigations Division of the Office of the Attorney General to investigate any death or serious physical injury, defined as harm that creates a substantial risk of death or causes serious, permanent disfigurement or protracted loss or impairment of the function of any bodily member or organ, that occurs in connection with an interaction with federal law enforcement or federal immigration enforcement officers. Following such an investigation, the Division must submit a report detailing its findings to the Governor and the General Assembly. Furthermore, if the Attorney General determines that the investigation provides sufficient grounds to believe a federal law enforcement or immigration enforcement officer committed a crime, the Attorney General is mandated to prosecute that case.
