This bill allows individuals who enroll in health insurance during a special enrollment period triggered by pregnancy, or by a dependent's pregnancy, to choose when their coverage becomes effective. Specifically, they can opt for coverage to start on the first day of the month they receive pregnancy confirmation from a health care practitioner, or on the first day of the month following their plan selection. If the individual does not make a selection, the health insurance carrier must choose one of these two options. This provision applies to health benefit plans issued, delivered, or renewed in the state on or after January 1, 2027.
