This bill requires the Maryland Department of Health to conduct at least two unannounced on-site inspections each year of every certified recovery residence, which are facilities providing residential support for individuals recovering from substance use disorders. These inspections are in addition to the regular inspections conducted by the entity that certifies these residences. If the Department finds a recovery residence is not meeting required standards, it will notify the residence of the issues and give them one month to fix them; if the residence fails to correct the deficiencies within that month, the Department can then direct the certifying entity to revoke the residence's certification.
