This bill amends existing Louisiana law to explicitly prohibit the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create child sexual abuse materials, which are defined to include any visual representation of a child under seventeen engaged in a sexual performance. The bill expands the definition of "child sexual abuse materials" to encompass undeveloped film, videotapes, or data stored electronically that can be converted into an image, as well as photographs, digital images, computer-generated images, or pictures, regardless of how they are made. Crucially, it clarifies that a "child" for these purposes includes not only a natural person under seventeen but also an AI-generated image or visual representation of a child under seventeen that is virtually indistinguishable from a real child. Furthermore, the bill broadens the definition of "produce" to include causing child sexual abuse materials to be digitally generated, specifically mentioning artificial intelligence, in addition to traditional methods like photographing or filming.
