This bill requires all Idaho public schools to establish policies for a daily moment of silence, at or near the start of each school day, lasting at least sixty seconds, during which every student in the classroom must participate. During this silent period, students are permitted to reflect, meditate, pray, or engage in any other silent activity, as long as it does not disrupt or distract other students. School staff are prohibited from instructing students on what to do during this time and must ensure all students remain silent and refrain from distracting behavior. The bill also mandates that schools notify parents and legal guardians about this period of silence and encourage them to provide guidance to their children. An emergency clause declares the act effective on July 1, 2026.
