This bill amends an existing law concerning the expense allowance for members of the Board of Registrars in Limestone County, Alabama. Previously, there was a fixed daily expense allowance of fifteen dollars ($15) per day. This bill removes that fixed limit and instead allows the Limestone County Commission, which is the governing body of the county, to establish the amount of the expense allowance through a resolution, meaning they can set it and change it later. This new allowance will be in addition to any other pay or expenses the registrars receive and will be paid from the county's general fund. The bill also clarifies that this new provision supersedes the old one and makes the change retroactive to October 1, 2001, validating any payments made since that date. The bill will become effective on October 1, 2026.
