This concurrent resolution reestablishes the Disaster Prevention and Resiliency Task Force, a group previously formed to study and recommend policies for the Commonwealth of Kentucky regarding natural disasters. Given the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters, and Kentucky's high ranking in disaster declarations, the task force will continue its work to assess risks, improve preparedness and mitigation strategies by examining other states' models, analyze the financial aspects of disaster response, and review the effectiveness of current government agencies and policies. The task force will also gather input from experts and citizens affected by disasters, identify data gaps, and explore potential governance structures and funding opportunities to enhance the Commonwealth's long-term resilience, ultimately aiming to develop a comprehensive strategy and legislative recommendations by December 1, 2026.
