This bill establishes the Education Workforce Data Governance Advisory Committee within the Office of Student Achievement, which is an agency responsible for collecting and analyzing educational data. The committee will consist of representatives from various educational bodies, including the Professional Standards Commission, the Department of Education, the Department of Early Care and Learning, the University System of Georgia, the Technical College System of Georgia, and the Georgia Student Finance Commission. This committee will meet at least quarterly to advise and assist the Office of Student Achievement in setting standards for collecting, analyzing, and using data about the education workforce, identifying data sources, creating a unified system to avoid redundant requests from school districts, developing consistent definitions for educational terms, integrating data from different sources, and developing a public data dashboard on educator recruitment and retention. The committee will also prepare an annual report on the Georgia education workforce and make recommendations to improve educator recruitment and retention. This new advisory committee and its functions will be repealed on July 1, 2036, and the bill also repeals previous provisions related to reporting on the impact of nationally certified teachers and teachers from alternative preparation programs on student performance.
