Bill Summary

This bill changes the disclosure report due dates for candidates for statewide office, the general assembly, or county office, and, by operation of law, state and county statutory political committees and other political committees, to 15 days after the end of each calendar quarter of an election year, beginning with the first calendar quarter of the calendar year in which a contribution is accepted or an expenditure is made. However, the report for the calendar quarter ending December 31 shall be filed not later than January 31 of the following calendar year.

AI Summary

This bill changes the deadlines for disclosure reports filed by candidates running for statewide, general assembly, or county offices, as well as state and county political committees and other political committees. Instead of the previous, more frequent reporting schedule, these entities will now be required to file reports 15 days after the end of each calendar quarter during an election year, starting from the first quarter in which they receive a contribution or make an expenditure. The only exception is the report for the final quarter of the year, which ends on December 31st; this report will be due by January 31st of the following year.
