This bill allows children in Rhode Island with diagnosed developmental disabilities whose third birthday falls between May 1 and August 31 to continue receiving early intervention services until September 1 of that year, thus bridging the gap before they transition to early childhood special education services. The Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) is tasked with developing a plan to ensure these services are continuous and to minimize disruptions for families. Furthermore, private health insurers will be required to cover these extended early intervention services, ensuring that families have access to necessary support during this critical transition period.
