This bill establishes a special license plate for surviving spouses of disabled veterans, allowing them to obtain plates for vehicles they own, excluding commercial vehicles over a certain weight. To get these plates, applicants must fill out a form provided by the director of revenue and prove their status as a surviving spouse. The plates will feature the words "SURVIVING SPOUSE" and "OF DISABLED VETERAN," replacing the usual "SHOW-ME STATE" designation, and will be made with reflective material for visibility. There will be an additional $15 fee for these plates on top of regular registration fees, though personalized plate fees will be waived, and there's no limit to how many sets a qualified individual can obtain for their vehicles. These plates are generally not transferable, but a co-owner can continue to use them for the remainder of the licensed year if the qualified person passes away.
