This bill amends existing Alaska law to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. It specifically modifies the definition of "blockbusting," which is an unlawful practice by real estate professionals aimed at inducing property transactions by representing that changes in the racial, religious, sex, color, or national origin composition of a neighborhood will lead to negative consequences. The bill inserts "sex" into the list of protected characteristics for blockbusting, and importantly, it adds new definitions to the law: "gender identity or expression" is defined as a person's internal sense of gender, appearance, or behavior, regardless of their sex assigned at birth; "sex" is expanded to include sexual orientation and gender identity or expression; and "sexual orientation" is defined as a person's attraction or lack thereof to a sexual partner of a certain gender.
