The bill also requires these institutions to compile records of reported human trafficking incidents alongside other crimes, and to establish written agreements with local law enforcement agencies that clarify responsibilities for investigating human trafficking on campus. Furthermore, it mandates that postsecondary institutions adopt policies addressing human trafficking involving students, faculty, or staff, and that reports of human trafficking received by campus security authorities be promptly forwarded to law enforcement. Importantly, the bill clarifies that an employee's failure to report human trafficking will not, by itself, make the institution liable. These new duties will apply to all community colleges, regardless of state funding availability for such purposes.
