This appeal process must involve an internal school review, including a hearing, and the student must receive written notification detailing the reason for their ineligibility, how to appeal, and the hearing schedule. Crucially, while a student is going through this appeal process, they will be granted provisional eligibility, meaning they can continue to practice and compete in sports until their appeal is decided or for a maximum of 10 school days, whichever comes first. If the school upholds the decision of academic ineligibility after the appeal, the student's ineligibility will then take effect the following school day.
