Upon retiring from broadcasting, Mr. Hart dedicated himself to nonprofit leadership as president of Friends of the Smokies, where he was instrumental in fundraising and advocacy efforts to preserve the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, including establishing a specialty license plate program that generates millions for the park.
