This bill allows for early voting ballot applications to be completed in person using an electronic poll pad, which is a digital device used at polling places, after presenting valid proof of identity. Once the application is processed on the electronic poll pad, the voter will receive a ballot issued by the secretary of state, which is the state's chief election official, and then place the completed ballot into a state-approved electronic voting device. The bill also clarifies that all existing voter and election protections and procedures that apply on election day will also govern the twenty-day early voting period, and the act will take effect immediately upon its passage.
