This bill directs the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA), which are public benefit corporations responsible for public transportation in the region, to rename the Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer subway station to the Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer York College Jamaica station. This renaming will only occur once the MTA or NYCTA determines that enough money has been specifically set aside for this purpose, and the MTA will be responsible for updating all signs and other materials to reflect the new name. The act will take effect immediately but will expire and be repealed once the station's signage and other items are updated, with the MTA or NYCTA chief executive required to notify the legislative bill drafting commission upon completion.
