This bill establishes the Task Force on Institutional Discrimination in Health Care within the Department of Health to study and evaluate why patients of different races and socioeconomic classes experience unequal health outcomes. The task force, composed of 19 members including state officials and appointed experts from various health-related boards and organizations, will review existing research on health disparities and identify specific policies to reduce these inequalities, such as analyzing hospital practices and implementing anti-racism training in the medical field. The task force is required to organize within 30 days of member appointments, with a quorum of 10 members needed for voting on recommendations, and will receive administrative support from the Department of Health. Finally, the task force must submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the Governor and Legislature within six months of organizing and will then expire 30 days after issuing its report.
