AI Summary

This bill requires the Department of Health (DOH) to create and launch a mobile assistance program for senior citizens within 180 days of the law taking effect, using existing funds. This program will involve sending vehicles staffed with personnel to various locations such as nursing homes, senior centers, community events, and different types of senior housing, including low-income options. The goal is to offer general support to seniors, which could include help with tasks like filling out forms, managing correspondence, accessing food and healthcare services, using the internet and technology like computers and mobile devices, getting legal assistance, scheduling appointments, and receiving tax help or transportation. This initiative is modeled after a successful program in Ocean County that used similar mobile units to aid seniors. The Commissioner of Health will also be responsible for creating the necessary rules and regulations to implement this program, following the state's Administrative Procedure Act, which outlines how government agencies can adopt and enforce regulations.
