This bill amends a Kentucky law, KRS 411.245, to provide civil immunity, meaning protection from lawsuits for damages, to individuals who enter a vehicle to rescue a domestic animal in imminent danger of physical injury. This immunity applies if the rescuer reasonably believes entry is necessary, has contacted law enforcement or emergency services beforehand, uses only the force necessary to enter and remove the animal, and either stays with the animal until responders arrive or leaves a written notice on the vehicle with their contact information, the reason for entry, the animal's location, and confirmation that authorities were notified. The bill clarifies that this immunity is in addition to any other legal protections a person might have.
