This bill requires insurers, nonprofit health service plans, and health maintenance organizations to cover a supply of prescription drugs for gender-affirming care, hormone therapy, or reproductive health, defined as a "qualifying prescription," for up to a 12-month period, with exceptions for controlled substances, dispensing shortages, or when a smaller supply is requested by the patient or recommended by their prescriber. Additionally, starting January 1, 2027, pharmacists will be allowed to dispense up to a 12-month supply of these "qualifying prescriptions" in a single dispensing, similar to existing provisions for contraceptives, unless the prescriber specifies otherwise or the drug is a controlled substance or the first prescription or a change in prescription.
