This resolution designates February 16, 2026, as Child Advocacy Center Day at the Legislature, acknowledging the vital role these centers play in West Virginia. Child Advocacy Centers provide a safe, neutral environment for children to disclose abuse and work with a team of professionals, including law enforcement, prosecutors, and medical providers, to investigate and intervene in cases of child abuse. They also connect victims with healing services and educate communities on preventing and reporting abuse, having assisted over 4,700 alleged victims and their families in the past year across 48 counties. The resolution encourages legislators and citizens to recognize the importance of these centers and directs the Clerk to send a copy to the West Virginia Child Advocacy Network.
