This bill establishes new regulations for radon mitigation within Utah's Construction Trades Licensing Act, specifically adding Section 58-55-308.2. This new section mandates that individuals and businesses involved in installing, repairing, maintaining, cleaning, or replacing radon mitigation systems, as well as those who sell or vent such systems, must undergo specific training and certification. This training and certification process will be established through rules created by the commission, with the director's agreement and in compliance with the Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, which governs how state agencies create and adopt regulations. The bill also allows the division to exempt individuals from these certification requirements if they are working directly under the supervision of a certified individual. This new law is set to take effect on May 6, 2026.
